My friend Amy went to the mall today and took a picture of the movie sign. Check out the name of the movie last on the list!! Guess that one is rated R. Guess some teenager had fun moving letters around.

Presenting the Zylla Family
We have met some wonderful people while living here on the island of Guam! I wanted to share some pictures that I just got of some of our "GUAM FAMILY". We met Rick and Brenda Zylla a while back and they have become very important to us! We got to be part of their lives as they adopted their two beautiful children. It was such a blessing to see the two of them become a family of FOUR in such a short amount of time. Troy (AKA TROY JOY) was born on the island of Palau and has got to be the happiest baby that I have ever had the privilege to meet. They brought Troy home when he was just a little over a week old. Their daughter (Nova Leigh) took a little more time and after months and months of waiting, they went to Guatemala to get her. They hit some red tape and ended up waiting there for a LONG time. Nova got to meet her baby brother not too long ago! She is a beautiful little princess and has adjusted and really turned into a sweet loving little girl. Her parents are thrilled as you can see by their smiles in the pictures, and the Lord has truly blessed them with the happiest most adorable children you ever could meet! Hope you enjoy the pictures (just click on the pictures to see them up close) ! Thanks to Rick and Brenda for sharing them and agreeing to be included in our Blog! May God continue to bless both of you and your precious family!

They are really good and will go to the Far East Soccer Competition that will be held in Yakota, Japan for 5 days. It will take place in April. The coach Mr. Macadagum is a Native of Guam (Chamorran) and is the Geometry teacher at the school.

Kate's Big Decision!
Kate has an appointment to the Air Force Academy, acceptance to Randolph Macon College, Eastern Kentucky University, Texas A&M, Loyola College in Maryland, and Shenandoah Music Conservatory so far. Still waiting to hear from Peabody Conservatory, and Carnegie Mellon,. She still is undecided..but we are hoping for the Air Force Academy (FREE FREE FREE haha). Keep her in prayer as she continues to get mail and makes her decision!!!
Last weekend The Guam High School Wind Ensemble won first place (best musical group) in the Guam Jazz Festival. Kate had 3 solos (2 of which were improvisation)..she did great! She played half the time on her flute and half on the alto sax. The Ensemble was wonderful, and sounded so professional. Wanted to share a few pictures, please forgive how blurry they are...my camera was having fits that day.

Hannah the Photographer at the Guam Art Show
Hannah entered 3 of her photographs into the Third Annual Women's Art Show. The art exhibit, sponsored by the Soroptimist International and the Guam Council of Women's Clubs, is part of the Guam community's celebration of Women's History Month. She was thrilled to be part of it, and got all dressed up to introduce her photographs to the many people who came. She was so excited and was all smiles, it was great to see!

The Creepy Guam Coconut Crab AKA Ayuyu
We are so lucky to have in Guam the cuddly adorable coconut crab! Here is a picture of one,,,this little guy is the size of a dinner plate. They found one 3 times this size up on Andersen Air Force base up on the north part of the island. There is a man who lives a few streets over who’s house in on the street that leads to the beach and he says that he watches them cross the road all the time. Their claws are strong enough to open a coconut (their main source of food), thus their name. The native Chamorro people call them ayuyu. They are the largest living hermit crab in the world. I did a little research and found the following article on them. And I thought spiders were creepy!!

Eva Cassidy
Just wanted to share with you one of my favorite singers...Eva Cassidy. Sadly, she passed away in 1996 of bone cancer at the age of 33. Her music is just breathtaking and she is one of those singers that has one of those voices that you never forget. They published a really nice article about her...check it out http://www.evacassidy.org/eva/harr96.htm
Scroll down to Theresa's Tunes and click on a few of her songs and take a listen!

Happy Thursday! (or Wednesday for those that are in the states!) We had a nice evening. Katie performed with her wind ensemble at a big hotel downtown Tumon. She had an amazing jazz solo and the whole production was very well done. I took some pictures and will try to download them tonight and on here in the next day or two. The girls have their last 2 softball games tomorrow and saturday..and then soccer and paddling teams start next week. Hannah will be starting her 2nd year of High School Varsity soccer, and Kate is on the Paddling team (Guam's equivalent to rowing). The rowing team looks like it will be fun, as the 6 man boats are taken out in the ocean and they have to battle waves! Kate is really looking forward to it and is excited..however I am a bit concerned as she is very fair skinned and I'm worried about sunburns...but I'm sure all will be fine. She will just have to take a bath in sunblock before going out on the ocean for 5 hours. Hannah has a good shot of being able to go to Far East Soccer which is being held in Yakota, Japan this year. The schools here in Guam compete at these sports events where other DODEA schools are there (Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Guam). They are lots of fun and allows the kids to travel all around the world. Pretty amazing opportunities for them! Kate goes to the Far East Band every year. Her sophomore year she made 6th chair flute in Okinawa, last year she made 3rd chair and this year she got 1st chair!!! She was so excited to get 1st chair her senior year! This year it is in Yakota, Japan.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow a Zillion Different ways!
Hi All ! As you can tell by my site, I'm kind of a Wizard of Oz nut. I surfed the net today finding versions of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" to put on my blog. It cracked me up how many artists did covers of this song! Ray Charles, Jimmy Hendrix (well, it was titled Over the Rainbow..but it wasnt the same song haha), Jewel (hers sucked by the way haha so it was left off), Martina McBride, Rosemary Clooney, Clay Aiken (yikes..it was left off too), Nora Jones, Katherine McPhee, and Faith Hill. A few wouldn't load but I put a couple on here. If you get sick of hearing Oz songs just scroll down to the bottom of my blog and click on the pause button for Theresa's Tunes. Enjoy!
